Our Crab Boil recipe use the same ingredients as a Shrimp Boil, Smoked Sausage, corn on the cob, and red potatoes. The only difference is to substitute crabs for shrimp.

Use our Shrimp Boil recipe, but substitute Blue Crabs for shrimp. 6 to 8 crabs per adult is a standard serving amount, if you are a crab lover, feel free to add more crabs.

Crabs generally take about 5 to 7 minutes to cook in boiling water. The crabs will have an orange color when they are finished cooking. It is okay to cook the crabs a couple of minutes longer if you prefer.

Can you cook crab legs frozen

Yes, you can boil crab legs that are frozen. In fact, almost all king crab legs and snow crab legs are frozen when you purchase them and have already been cooked also. So you are really only reheating these types of crab legs. Blue crabs are normally live when you cook them.

Best seasonings for a crab boil

Old Bay Seasoning or Zatarain’s Seasoning are two of the best seasonings for a crab boil. After the crabs, crab legs or claws have finished boiling and have been taken out of the water, coat the again with seasoning. This will ensure that the crabs are thoroughly seasoned and will provide the best flavor.

Although Old Bay and Zatarain’s are both made by the same company they are made for different styles of cooking. Old Bay is a more traditional seasoning and Zatarain’s is great for making a crab boil recipe cajun. Zatarain’s offers a liquid seasoning that can be added to the water while your crabs are boiling. This may help add more flavor to your crab boil.
